Annie had a great smile and people seemed to be drawn to her and would smile. It was tough going to work today; however, helping another animal is a great way to honor her memory. After all Annie was a shelter dog once too! Many people may not know, but Annie was a hospice dog and would visit people in nursing homes. She loved pets and enjoyed older people. My friend thought Annie would make a great hospice dog and talked me into joining OSF Hospice. And he was right! Annie made a great hospice dog and comforted many residents in nursing home hospice. Annie also used to help teach kids about being safe around dogs, being a responsible pet owner, and the importance of training your dog. We did many presentations together at schools, kid camps, or other kid type groups. So in Annie's memory, please don't over look those overly enthusiastic jumpy dogs at your local shelter. Annie was one of those dogs too. It's amazing how a few training classes and several 10-minute training sessions can transform a dog into a superstar and best friend to many.
