A Memorial to My Little Lady Lady, the moment I saw your picture on the Shorewood Cocker Rescue website, I fell in love. At the time, I knew I wanted a dog, but nothing on this earth could ever have prepared me for you. I have to admit, I got nervous a few days before I first met you. You were the last dog the volunteers brought in from the van that day…I could barely contain my nervousness and excitement. The smile that was involuntarily plastered across my face just a few moments later lasted for 12 glorious years. I hope that I made your life as special and filled with love as you did mine. There are so many wonderful memories that I’ll carry with me forever. You were my best friend and partner in crime, camping, boating, fishing, napping on the couch, letting our blonde hair fly in the convertible, playing our game running up and down the pier, walking/sniffing the perimeter of the fence, making sure there were NO rodents of any type in the backyard (you were so proud to present them to me!), cooking, cleaning up the kitchen, surfing on the dishwasher, and being the best little snuggle bug to both me and your feline sister (she misses you terribly). Your love of treats was extraordinary and second to none. Lady, you are the love of my life. You were sweet, kind and soulful…everyone who ever met you fell in love immediately. You taught me many things, including that garbage cans do not belong on the floor, particularly when filled with dirty Kleenex (how could I have been so silly?). I am devastated and heartbroken without you. I may have rescued you from your prior life, but ultimately, you rescued me. You made me a better person and taught me how full my heart could be. I never felt more value than in giving you a happy, healthy, loving, treat-filled home. While your passing was unexpected, I’m grateful that it was fast and that your suffering was limited. From the day you walked into my life to the day you passed, your tail never stopped wagging. Thank you for waiting for me to rush to your side, say goodbye, tell you I loved you and hold you as you entered doggie heaven. I will carry you with me forever and will continue to adopt from Shorewood Cocker Rescue in your honor. I love you, Lady.
